With Suits LA preparing to expand the iconic legal drama franchise, longtime fans are eager to know: Will Meghan Markle reprise her role as Rachel Zane?

Gabriel Macht, who portrayed the legendary Harvey Specter for nine seasons, recently spoke to USA Today about the Suits phenomenon — and its unexpected second wind in 2023 when the series exploded on Netflix.

“I was honestly taken aback,” Macht admitted. “You don’t expect a show to come back from the dead like that.”

When asked about the Meghan Markle factor — and her potential involvement in Suits: LA — Macht didn’t dodge the question.

“Never in a million years did I think I’d be talking about the royal family because of a former co-star,” he joked.

Will Meghan Markle Return to Suits LA?

So… could Rachel Zane reappear in the Suits universe?

“I don’t know the logistics; I don’t know the numbers,” Macht said, smiling. “But perhaps. She is quite known around the world these days, right?”

In a follow-up interview with Extra, Macht hinted again at possibilities without confirming anything: “Patrick [J. Adams] and Sarah [Rafferty] have said they’d love to come back. And Rick Hoffman is already confirmed. As for Meghan? Never say never.”

A Franchise Built on Legacy and Surprise

Although Meghan Markle has not addressed the reboot publicly, Suits: LA showrunner Aaron Korsh has made it clear the door is open for legacy characters. And with Suits LA intertwining past and present, a flashback, voice cameo, or special appearance isn’t out of the question.

Rachel Zane’s storyline — her marriage to Mike Ross and departure to Seattle — was left open-ended. Which, in TV logic, means there’s always a way back.

Macht also shared that he hasn’t watched Markle’s Netflix docuseries With Love, Meghan, but he made it clear there’s no bad blood.

“All good things for Meghan,” he said. “I hope she’s doing great.”
