Untamed Season 2 Netflix Renewal
Just two weeks after its July 17 debut rocketed to the top of Netflix’s global Top 10, Untamed has earned Untamed Season 2 Netflix Renewal.
The riveting national-park thriller became the platform’s most-watched English-language series of 2025 to date, registering 24 million views in its first seven days. Now Netflix has confirmed that Untamed season 2 is officially in development, with star Eric Bana set to return as Investigative Services Branch agent Kyle Turner.
Why Netflix Moved So Fast
Unlike most crime dramas, Untamed arrived as a closed-ended, six-episode limited series. Yet staggering completion rates, glowing reviews, and social chatter convinced executives to expand the concept into an anthology vehicle. According to internal data, more than 80 percent of viewers finished all six episodes within 48 hours—an extraordinary number even by binge-era standards. Netflix rarely pivots from “limited” to multi-season, making this green-light a clear endorsement of the show’s creative potential.

The Creative Team Returns
Showrunners Mark L. Smith (The Revenant) and Elle Smith will again steer the series, promising a “brand-new park, brand-new nightmare.” In their joint statement, the pair said:
“Kyle Turner got under our skin as deeply as he did audiences’. Season 2 drops him into unfamiliar wilderness, forcing him to face danger without the coping mechanisms he trusted in Yosemite.”
Smith adds that the plan is to treat each season as a standalone mystery while letting Turner’s character arc evolve across multiple terrains.
New Park, New Case
Season 1 ended with Turner resigning his long-time Yosemite post after solving a grisly cliff-side murder.
Untamed Season 2 Netflix Renewal
Season 2 uproots him to a different U.S. national park—producers are tight-lipped on the exact location, though insiders hint at an “aquatic-heavy environment” that demands fresh survival skills. Visually, viewers should expect an entirely different color palette, ecosystem, and set of secondary characters.
- Narrative angle: Whereas Season 1 unfolded over one compressed week, the follow-up reportedly spans several months, tracking a chain of ritualistic disappearances.
- Anthology model: Think True Detective meets Longmire—each season closes its primary investigation, yet personal shadows follow Turner into every new assignment.
Eric Bana on Returning as Kyle Turner
Bana—whose understated gravitas anchors the show—celebrated the pickup on social media:
“I’m thrilled we get to keep exploring Turner’s complicated heart. Season 2 tests him in ways the first season only hinted at.”
The Australian actor will again perform his own horse work and stunt driving, two elements audiences praised for realism. Producers also confirmed that his involvement in script consultation will deepen, ensuring authenticity in law-enforcement procedure and back-country survival.
Casting: Familiar Faces vs. Fresh Blood
While rose-colored speculation swirls about the return of Rosemarie DeWitt and Sam Neill, Netflix has not locked any supporting regulars. Sources indicate:
- New ensemble: A park superintendent, two search-and-rescue rookies, and an Indigenous ecologist top the casting grid.
- Possible cameos: Season 1 fan favorites could appear briefly via phone or flashback, but the story will stand alone for new viewers.
Casting announcements are expected later this year, with production eyeing a spring 2026 shoot.
Production Timeline and Release Window
- Writers’ room: Opened July 30, days after the renewal press release.
- Filming target: March–July 2026, subject to weather conditions in the unnamed park.
- Premiere estimate: Late 2026 on Netflix worldwide, likely mirroring the first season’s six-episode structure.
Netflix traditionally drops full seasons at once, so binge-watchers can circle Q4 2026 for another wild weekend.
Untamed Season 2 Netflix Renewal
Why Untamed Resonates
- Authentic setting – Real national-park protocols, versus generic forest backdrops, lend a documentary layer of danger.
- Single-case focus – Viewers crave mysteries that resolve, not endless cliff-hangers.
- Human drama over gore – The show balances forensic intrigue with Turner’s inner battles, broadening its appeal beyond hardcore crime fans.
The Season 2 renewal cements Untamed as Netflix’s flagship thriller franchise for the post-Night Agent era.
Key Takeaways for Fans
- Untamed season 2 Netflix production is a go; Eric Bana officially returns.
- New national park setting promises fresh scenery and threats.
- Standalone story means newcomers can start with Season 2—die-hards still benefit from Turner’s evolving backstory.
- Tentative release: late 2026.
Keep an eye on Netflix’s Tudum site and official social channels; casting news and behind-the-scenes photos are expected before year’s end. Until then, re-watch Season 1 for clues—showrunners tease that one seemingly minor Yosemite detail will foreshadow Turner’s next ordeal.
“Sometimes the wild is quiet,” Turner said in the finale, “until it decides you’ve stayed too long.” For fans, the wait for more silence-breaking suspense has only just begun.
There is noticeably a bundle to know about this. I assume you made certain good factors in features also.
